Save Lanka Kids
Save Lanka Kids was established in 1997 as a supporting branch of Community Concern Society to stand up for the rights of children and youth through out the island. Over the past years SLK has become a passionately active youth organization whose main objectives are to reduce the vast number of children being victims of sexual abuse, exploitation, trafficking and child labour.
Amongst all of this SLK also strives to cease the rapidly spreading epidemic of HIV and AIDS through out our nation. The HIV project is run by youth and is presented to youth through ways of creative communication. The materials used will be shared with many organizations and schools thus expanding the base of our work. Over 200,000 youth across the country has had the opportunity to see, hear, ask, learn and now have an awareness of this issue.
We carry out these objectives by creating a strong voice of advocacy among youth through awareness campaigns, training youth to become peer educators, sports programs, educational awareness through publications, Media campaigns and networking with other governmental and non governmental bodies to fight the stigma and discrimination that follows those living with HIV and AIDS.
Empowering youth has become a passion and priority to every one of us working at SLK as we believe that a better future begins with each and every individual talking one step towards a better direction.
